Earthly Body’s Waterslide Lubricant

Monday, February 21st, 2011

It’s been a while since we’ve talked about lube, so I thought I’d write up a review for one of my new favorites, Earthly Body’s Waterslide.

The first thing I consider when checking out a new lubricant is the ingredients list. If a company doesn’t care enough for my health to make a body-safe product, I’m not going to spend my money with them. Earthly Body has nothing to worry about because they obviously put some thought into their formulation. Waterslide is sugar, glycerin and paraben-free. I try to avoid all three!

Three is apparently the magic number, because that is exactly how many ingredients you’ll find in this bottle of vegan water-based lube: Purified Water, Propanediol (Natural Humectant) and Natural Carrageenan (Sea Plant). I don’t know about you, but I like the sounds of that!

While that’s all well and good, what really counts is how well a product works and I can definitely recommend Waterslide. I’ve got enough lube to last a lifetime and this one works as well as my favorites. The only complaint I have is that it has a bit of an odd taste. It’s not horrible, but I could do without it.

Because it is a water-based lube, it’s safe to use with condoms and toys of all types. I have a lot of silicone toys, so I always make sure to have a bottle of water-based slick stuff on hand to use with them. Silicone-based lubes will ruin your expensive silicone toys, so make sure to never use them together!

If you’re looking for an all-natural product that works well without one hundred thousand extra chemicals, you should definitely check out Earthly Body’s Waterslide!

Toy Review – Wartenburg Wheel With Sheath

Monday, February 7th, 2011

I may not have a dungeon in my basement, but I do like to experiment with kinky stuff once in a while and it’s that desire that lead me to the Wartenburg Wheel from Kinklab.

The Whartenberg Pinwheel is a seven inch metal wand that a spiked wheel at the end that rolls like a paint roller. The wheel is about one inch in diameter. The basic idea is to roll this bad boy up and down the skin to tease or torture.

If you apply very light pressure, it’s actually really good for teasing your partner. A blindfold and this tool are all you need to drive someone crazy in all the right ways.

For more experienced players, heavy pressure will result in a more painful, but just as delightful experience. While one should always be careful, I was able to use a lot of pressure without damaging my own skin when I was first experimenting with it.

This is actually perfect for people who are experimenting with BDSM, because if you don’t enjoy a more painful play session, you’ve got yourself something to tease and tickle with! Plus, at under fifteen bucks, it’s one hell of a deal in a time when people are reluctant to splurge.

BTW, for those of you who like pervy history, you should know that the Wartenburg Wheel was invented by Dr. Robert Whartenberg test nerve responses.

Toy Review – Ass-Berry – Blackberry

Monday, August 30th, 2010

I’m going to start this review by admitting that I never used this toy as it is intended. While I haven’t seen any horror stories about this toy getting lost up inside someone’s ass, I wasn’t convinced that the base was 100% reliable. I know way too many people at my local ER to ever risk ending up there with something lost inside of me. Sorry. However, I had a lot of fun with this toy, so I thought it was worth talking about.

The Ass-Berry is made of Intramed, a thermoplastic material developed by Rocks Off that I didn’t know much about so I put on my research had and looked into it. Apparently, it is hypo-allergenic, non-porous and phthalate-free. Like silicone, it can be sterilized with a 10% bleach solution and what’s even better is that you can use silicone lube with it. While I still prefer silicone toys because there’s a little mystery regarding Intramed for me, it seems like a good alternate material.

I really enjoyed the textured body and it made it different enough from my other small bullet-type vibes to stand out. I’m a huge fan of this small vibes that add to the experience without dominating it, so it was a welcome addition to our bedroom. While I wasn’t sure about the flared base, it does provide a great grip on this toy. A lot of small vibes like this are hard to control when things get a little wet and wild and I haven’t run into that problem with this one.

One of the best things about this toy is that it includes the RO-80mm bullet vibe. It’s one of my favorite small vibrators and definitely packs a punch. It’s also pretty quiet, especially when used in conjunction with the Ass-Berry. Because it’s so small, it’s great for travel. We took it along on a weekend away recently and boy was I glad!

While I may not be getting the most out of this toy, it’s one that we’ve used numerous times and really like. If you’ve had great experiences with butt play and the Ass-Berry I’d love to hear them. With a little coaxing, I could be updating this review in the future!

Climax Pop – Toy Review

Wednesday, June 16th, 2010

I really like the simple things in life and that definitely includes basic sex toys like bullet vibes. When I saw the Climax Pop from Topco, I knew I had to try it out, despite the fact that I probably have a dozen toys kind of like it. It’s cute, silicone and I’ve been curious about the Climax line for a while.

The Climax Pop is a one speed bullet vibe that is really as basic as they come. I prefer multi-speed toys myself, but that’s not really a deal breaker for me. Since the ridged sleeve is made from silicone, it’s phthalate-free and body-safe.

This little guy runs on 3 AG13 batteries which are often used for watches. Considering this, it’s a pretty powerful toy. I did have a big problem with the fact that the batteries were drained really quickly. I only used it twice, and not for epic masturbation sessions, and the power was significantly decreased.

Because of the way this vibe sucks power, I don’t recommend it if you don’t have a lot of sex toys. I have actually taken the sleeve off of this vibe and use it with another bullet vibe that is multi-speed and runs on four AAA batteries! I really like the texture of the sleeve and love that it’s made from silicone, so it’s really improved an old bullet vibe that had fallen out of rotation for me. I would actually pay for the sleeve because it is a nice addition to my considerable collection.

If you’re looking for an affordable clit vibe that is, in my opinion, a better option, check out the Pocket Rocket Jr.

I will commend Topco and other big companies for using better materials now, just a couple of years ago, this would have been made out of disgusting jelly. Unfortunately, I think they still have some kinks to work out with this particular toy, but man is that sleeve sweet!

Toy Review – Little Su

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

When you review a lot of sex toys it’s always something to find something new and different.  When I saw the Little Su a year or so ago, I knew I had to get my greedy little hands on it!

This unique dildo is made out of medical grade silicone, which means it can be sterilized and shared. Sweet! While it doesn’t vibrate, silicone is really great at transferring vibration and I’ve found that you can add a whole new dimension to the toy by using a vibe with it.

So this toy isn’t meant for thrusting like most dildos.  You insert the Little Su (3.75 insertable inches) and then rock against the part that rests outside your body that does a really great job of stimulating the clit.  Its design is really thoughtful – there are ridges and curves in all of the right places and it really fills you up nicely.

Please know that this is not a toy that is meant for a quick orgasm.  You have to work a bit, but boy is it worth it.  I really like using it for partnered play.  Going down on my partner is a huge turn on in itself, but when I add the extra sensations of this toy it’s a mind-blowing experience for everyone involved!

Two women can also enjoy it simultaneously because the clit stimulator is textured on both sides.  I don’t love it as much for that, but some women may and I do admit it can be fun!

The Little Su comes in a nice box that opens up a lot like a book.  I use mine for storage and think it makes for an attractive gift also.

If you’re looking for something different, you should definitely check out the Little Su on Sextoys.com.  It’s well designed and sure to bring something new to the bedroom!
