I have been reviewing restraints and bondage toys for the Dom or Domme on the go, or for people who like to take their kink on the road.  This gear is designed for beginners in bondage and portable use.  It is not the same as good dungeon gear.  It has different purposes – storage and portability.  Today I’m reviewing the Under the Bed Restraint System.

I’ll break this down into three parts: construction, effectiveness and usefulness.

The construction on this rig is above average to superior.  Its design allows pressure to be placed on the seams where the cuffs connect to the straps without tearing the durable and strong material.  Someone at SportSheets deserves an “A” for thinking through the cut of the material and stitching to prevent tears and ripping in the fabric.  Some may wonder how nylon as thick as this could tear.

When play becomes intense, it is easy to tear almost anything including layered leather.  Silk ties are the only thing I’ve never witnessed ripping, so that’s a big deal.  This rig is built to last.

For effectiveness I give it a “B”.  It does hold the subject in place, but only to a degree.  With tugging and pulling a submissive can wiggle into a favorable position and where is the fun in that?  The whole purpose of bondage is to create a tension and sense of discomfort.  But if you take the time to work with the straps, you can make this difficult to achieve.

It works well in sexual play, but not as well as a strictly bondage toy.  The best thing is to consider this a fantasy sex toy.

Its usefulness gets the lowest grade – a “B-”.  The trouble is that if you are on a smaller bed like you find in some hotels, you have to make many adjustments to achieve the right position.  Larger beds mean you’ll have a workout trying to get this worked into position at all.  So setup time can be extended.  The best bet is to preposition the rig before you get into the mood, so that when you are ready to play, you can concentrate on fun, not setup.

Overall, if you do the averages, this rig gets a “B”, which isn’t bad.  If you aren’t into dominance and submission or bondage at the moment, it can serve as a great positionary device for oral sex as well.  So it has versatility as a bonus.  I suggest this rig for those who want added flavor on there next road trip.  Be aware that there is metal in the connections, so airport security may have a few questions for you if you fly.

Door Jam Cuffs

Some of you may have noticed that I am doing a series of reviews of equipment that might be useful for the Dom on the go.  The Door Jam Cuffs are the next in line.  Unlike the lust loops, these cuffs are very useful for restraint.  They allow you to set up in a variety of positions from arms spread to inline, and with a second set you can restrain arms and legs.

Spanking fans – unless you are strictly OTK – this is a great way to take your disciplinary action on the road.  You don’t have to work very hard to get these up and ready.  And they set your subject up in a way that is efficient, and gives you complete control.

These are made from very sturdy nylon, and they use a velcro restraint design.  They’re easy to get on and off.  There isn’t a great deal between the subject and the nylon, so you have to be careful in applying them to prevent cutting during serious movement.  A well disciplined subject will have no such problems, but you might consider cloth of some kind inside the cuffs with a new subject.

Installation is a little complicated for the legs.  I prepositioned the cuffs under the door by pulling the door slightly shut and then sliding them along the door.  Remember to fasten the arm restraints first if you get two sets.  The door can put your subject off balance and if your subject is restrained by the legs with no arm support, you can have a fall.  This is especially important if your subject is in heels.

These can also be employed effectively in “against the wall” sexual fantasy.  And a creative mind can find other uses for them too.  Their price is low, and they store in a very small space.  As I said earlier, these are great for travel – and they have no metal so they’re light.

I completely recommend these as a great tool for visiting or travel.

Japanese Bondage Rope

Lust Loops

Take a good look at the picture in this post.  If your subject is any larger than this woman, especially if she is well endowed with large breasts, this toy is not what you want.  The idea of Lust Loops is sound, and it looks as though they do have the potential to make things fun.  But their small size makes them impractical for much more than a good fantasy.

Construction on these is solid.  There is a firm inner core that allows them to hold shape quite well.  The cuffs are padded and lock with velcro.  This locking mechanism holds firm and can withstand even my efforts to snatch free of them.  So if your subject is the correct size, these are a firm, good option for some warm up play.

They are designed to force the subject into a standing position (not what you see in the picture) and to bend over in a perfect position for a spanking.  You can also place the ankles in the outer loops to give a spread leg sense to the subject.  They are not wide enough, though, to serve as first line leg spreaders.

Our experience was that the loops did not work for my subject.  Her body was not suited to any of the positions that the lust loops are designed to produce.  And, so you know, she isn’t a BBW, but a normal sized person.  She just could not maintain her balance, and almost fell on her face twice.  So the Lust Loops were a scratch for our session.

If you have a smaller subject, these may be a good option as a variation from the usual.  Otherwise, get a regular spreader bar and improvise.

We’ve all been drooling over the new Axovus product we’ve added to the site recently and I thought it was about my time I chimed in with my two cents regarding this hot gear! It was pretty hard to narrow my list down, but here are the five items I am pretty convinced I can’t live without.

1. Blackout Blindfold – How bad ass are these? I was initially drawn to them because they look totally rad, but then when i discovered that you can keep your eyes open when wearing them, I was sold. What’s even cooler is that you can buy replacement lenses in different colors.

2. Little Devil Electric Toy – I’ve never played around with electrosex, but I’m definitely curious and this toy seems like the perfect introduction. They compare the shock to that of a Tens Unit, which I find really helpful and intriguing!

3. Holy Band – I love the look of this wrist band and would most likely wear it all of the time. Besides being a nice accessory, all my girl would have to do is wrap her hand around my wrist in the supermarket to let me know what I’m in for when we get home.

4. Mini Whip – I’m all about convenience, and this cat o’ nine tails style whip is small enough to fit in an overnight bag, and bad enough to get it’s point across.  I always travel with at least one or two toys I think I might need and would love to have a whip to consider.

5. Locking Red Satin Lined Ankle Cuffs – I have really nice wrist cuffs, but my ankle cuffs are crap and these are stunning. I love the look of the red stain lining and can imagine myself locking up my girl and throwing away the key!

Of course, I am completely in love with the Leather Bat Wings, but since Ginger already called dibs, I kept them off of my list!
