Using Sex Furniture Can Make Sex Better

Monday, September 21st, 2009

Sometimes, spicing up adult play can be as simple as a new position.  And the experimental types among us know that many angles are not nearly as easy to achieve as they look in the photo!  Also, some approaches facilitate easier (and better) access to sensitive spots.  But what if you’ve tried and tried, and just can’t get in THAT position.

That’s where an investment in sex furniture can make a great difference in your sex life.  A good product can make it possible for you to get in the positions that weren’t previously possible.  Like Liberator says, “It’s time to teach your old doggie-style some new tricks.”

We should tell you that like regular furniture, sex furniture varies in quality.  Good sex furniture will last longer than cheaper knock offs, and good sex furniture will perform better than the lower quality items.  If you buy an inflatable product, you will have the problems associated with inflatable products.  While you may save a few bucks up front, your long term return won’t be nearly as good as you would get from a solid sex furniture product.

The Liberator Ramp

The Liberator Ramp

Take the Liberator Ramp as a good example of high quality sex furniture:

“Liberator Ramp offers support with a deep slope elevation. It strategically lifts your lover’s hips to an altitude of 12 inches, offering access at critical angles that accentuate sensitivity.

It’s time to teach your old doggie-style some new tricks. The key to perfect rear-entry penetration is supported elevation. Supported elevation prevents falling forward, slipping, sore elbows and wrists and hips buried in the mattress.

With Ramp a couple can sustain the doggie-style position for longer, more satisfying sessions. Other Ramp specialties include positions off the side of the bed and an unbeatable girl-on-top ride.”

And let’s focus for a moment on a sensitive issue.  Some people have been injured, have chronic back or arthritis problems, or are physically incapable for whatever reason, of getting into a pleasurable sex position.  Good sex furniture can give those people their sex lives back.

Consider the Liberator Scoop, which can put someone in the perfect position, which includes almost any position you can imagine:

“Tilt it, tip it, dip it, flip it. The most dynamic of the Liberator line, the Scoop makes its own love locomotion, rocking you into action-packed, thrill-ride climaxes.

Flip it for a more stable sex setting and superior spinal support. As athletic or anchored as you like. Add other shapes for extra height, slope and support.

What’s Included: Scoop, dressed to thrill in a machine washable Microfiber cover as well as a silky nylon water-resistant play surface. Scoop-centric position guide to spark and inspire desire.< Black, nylon gig bag for luvin’ on the go.

Please note that Liberator products can only be shipped within the continental United States and cannot be shipped to military addresses.”

Think about what you’ve spent on your couch, your lamps, your coffee table, your bookshelves and even your dining room furniture.  Unless you are a seriously kinky sort (who wouldn’t need any help anyway), none of those things will ever provide the intense orgasm that a good piece of sex furniture can help you to achieve.  A small investment in a good piece of sex furniture can change your life.

And we mean for the better!

Explore Your G-Spot With Great Toys

Lelo's Gigi

Lelo's Gigi

Monday’s post about G-Spot stimulation is a really a great primer for those of you who wonder about the magical spot touted by Dr. Grafenberg so many years ago.  While I’m no scientist, I can tell you that I love g-spot stim and most of my favorite toys are designed for it.  While all of my favorites can be found in our new G Spot Sex Toys category, I thought I’d highlight a few today and explain exactly why I love them so much!

First up is Lelo’s Gigi – the ultimate G-spot vibe in my book.  It’s curve fits my body perfectly and is sure to rock my world when inserted, but it’s also great for clitoral stimulation for those of you who prefer external toys.  Like all of my favorite toys, it’s made from a body safe material, in this case silicone, so I don’t have to worry about nasty phthalates.  If you’ve ever run turned on a vibe to find the batteries are running out of juice, you’ll also be happy to hear that the Gigi is rechargeable.  For those of you who are looking for something that doesn’t vibrate or is a little cheaper, Lelo also makes a dildo that with the same shape – The Ella.  It’s equally amazing, especially when paired with a bullet vibe!

Another toy that stimulates the g-spot that I really can’t live without is the We Vibe.  This one isn’t all about g-spot stim though – it’s innovative design manages to stimulate it and the clit during penetration.  It’s absolutely amazing and I really wish that every woman in the world would open their front door to find a package with this vibe in it on their doorsteps.  The world would be a better place.  It’s also made out of silicone and rechargeable.

Lovemoiselle's Aveline

Lovemoiselle's Aveline

Finally, I would be remiss to not talk about the Aveline dildo by Lovemoiselle.  This is the only ceramic toy that I own, but I will definitely look to right that wrong in the future.  The Aveline is a little heavier than a lot of my toys and as smooth as glass.  The extra weight helps to guide the angled head towards your g-spot and ceramaic is truly a divine material for penetration.  If you’re looking for a gorgeous toy that’s definitely unique, this one might be for you.

In the end, your pleasure is what’s important when it comes to picking out sex toys.  While these g-spot toys are some of my favorites, only you know what’s really going to get you off.  And regarding g-spot naysayers, I think our experts hit the nail on the head in this post:

Let’s say for the sake of discussion that someone scientifically proves that the G Spot is a myth.  If you achieve intense orgasms by stimulating the area one to three inches inside on the vagina’s upper wall, does it matter?  Learning what works for you is an art, not a science.

If you’ re interested in exploring g-spot stim, we recommend you start by checking out the cream of the crop when it comes to g-spot toys in our new For Women category.

The G Spot Revisited

This is a G Spot sex toy

This is a G Spot sex toy

So the debate rages on about whether or not the G Spot exists.  From our standpoint, while the empirical data may be less than overwhelming, the number of G Spot sex toys that are manufactured and sold make a solid practical argument that someone is getting stimulation from the area Dr. Grafenberg first discussed. But once in a while, it’s good to look at recent discussions on the subject, especially if you want to experiment with this popular form of stimulation.

A recent article contained this sentence as its thesis: “Unlike men, women can orgasm in many different ways.”  It then went on to list different anatomical features like, clitoris, vagina and G Spot.  People who have read our work know that the article was then tossed aside.  The reason?  The clitoris and G Spot (such as it is considered to exist) are parts of the vagina!  Why go through all of the complex possible permutations when one fact stands out?  That fact is that each person finds a specific stimulation satisfying and can achieve orgasm through it.

Of all of the big mistakes a person can make, over-complicating sexual sensations is one of the biggest that can damage adult play time fun.

WebMD has a great section on this subject, which we think summarizes the argument over the G Spot very well:

“Prosterman and others point out the importance of thinking of the G-spot in context — that it may be an extension of the clitoral anatomy, which extends back into the vaginal canal. Kerner writes that the G-spot may be ‘nothing more than the roots of the clitoris crisscrossing the urethral sponge.’

Helen O’Connell, MD, head of the neurourology and continence unit at the Royal Melbourne Hospital Department of Urology in Australia, says, ‘The G-spot has a lot in common with Freud’s idea of vaginal orgasms. It is a sexual concept, this time anatomical, that results in confusion and has resulted in the misconception that female sexuality is extremely complex.’”

The article also contains this:

A G Spot sex toy for couples

A G Spot sex toy for couples

“In the end, whether this debated locus of pleasure is fact or fiction may not matter that much. O’Connell, who is also co-author of a 2005 Journal of Urology study on the anatomy of the clitoris, says that focusing on the G-spot to the exclusion of the rest of a woman’s body is ‘a bit like stimulating a guy’s testicles without touching the penis and expecting an orgasm to occur just because love is present.’ She says focusing on the inside of the vagina to the exclusion of the clitoris is ‘unlikely to bring about orgasm. It is best to think of the clitoris, urethra, and vagina as one unit because they are intimately related.’”

Ok, so what is the G Spot and where is it?  The G Spot is an area which many women claim, if stimulated properly, can lead to intense orgasm.  What it is, we aren’t qualified to say, though the base of the clitoris sounds like a good guess, since the clitoris can have a shaft of one to three inches and the G Spot is generally agreed to be located two to three inches inside the vagina on the upper wall.

Do you have a G Spot?  That’s the question that you must answer.  Experimenting with sensations is a great way to see whether or not this area adds something more to your orgasm experience.  As we mentioned before, there are many quality G Spot sex toys designed to create that type of stimulation.

Let’s say for the sake of discussion that someone scientifically proves that the G Spot is a myth.  If you achieve intense orgasms by stimulating the area one to three inches inside on the vagina’s upper wall, does it matter?  Learning what works for you is an art, not a science.

So enjoy your next orgasm, wherever you find it.  And don’t be afraid to experiment.  Why should you be, it isn’t exactly a science!

Fact and Myths About Penis Extension

Friday, September 11th, 2009

Plenty of men use penis pumps and penis extenders, and we sell them.  But you want to make sure you are using them for the right reasons.  So we’re giving you some background to help you do just that.  If you think of penis extension as a tool, or a method to add fun to your adult play time, you’ll be on your way to a bedroom full of fun.

Many guys spend a great deal of time worried about the size of their penis.  And there are plenty of articles around the internet that debunk these concerns.  For instance, I could do a “show of hands” or drop a “YES” in our comments to women on theoretical “Guy A.”  Ok, ladies, “Guy A” is average to good looking, has a stable job, doesn’t whine or complain, brings his girlfriend flowers for no particular reason, knows how to give incredible neck, shoulder, back and foot massages, listens patiently, kisses passionately and has a four and a half to six inch long (which is the global average – source) penis.  Anyone interested in him?

Colt Vacuum Pump is for FUN

Colt Vacuum Pump is for FUN

Now, most articles leave it at that.  I’m not going to dismiss your concerns that way.  The fact is that the study in the journal Psychology of Men and Masculinity, sourced above as used in Everyday Health, goes on to add this interesting scope of information:

“In the same study of more than 52,000 participants — men and women — 45 percent of men reported that they were unsatisfied with their penis size and wanted to be larger. Compare that figure to the 16 percent who actually are shorter than average. And the perception didn’t change with age, either — about the same number of older men were unhappy with their penis size as were younger guys.

These concerns of inadequacy have consequences. Men who believed their penis size was too small were less likely to undress in front of their partner, more likely to hide their penis during sex, and more likely to judge themselves unattractive. On the other hand, men who thought they had a large penis were likely to be more self-confident and believe themselves to be attractive. Interestingly, 84 percent of the women surveyed reported that they were satisfied with their partner’s penis size. So it’s not her problem, guys — it’s yours.”

And let’s face fact here, it IS a problem.  If a guy believes that his penis isn’t adequate, that feeling of inadequacy can stretch across a range of psychological and social settings, affecting the quality of his life.  So it is important to address those feelings, because (and you’ll find it odd for a sex toy company to say this) we aren’t aware of anything that will add a permanent 3 – 5 inches to your penis length.

And we’d be lying if we told you we thought it was possible.  If you feel a sense of inadequacy, we strongly suggest that you seek out a licensed clinical professional to help you work through your feelings and get you on the road to a happier life.  But the good news is that doesn’t mean that you have to toss out the idea of having fun with size adding sex toys!

Penis Pumps:

We usually add this disclaimer to penis pumps: “Some men swear by the use of pumps as effective tools for increasing size, while others think pumps have no lasting effect. Pumps can extend length while using, but the question is, will the penis return to original size after using? Unfortunately we do not have that answer and cannot guarantee or be responsible for any results.”  That’s because a penis pump isn’t designed to add permanent size!

But, oh boy, can they add some incredible sensation, temporary engorgement (which really heightens sensitivity for many), and downright pleasurable fun to your play time.  If you use a pump with a sleeve, you basically have a stand alone masturbator that is perfect for solo play.  Or you can use pumps to add sensation to partnered play.  The point is that a penis pump is a penis extender in a small way, but you’ll get more out of your penis pump if you think of it as a sex toy to enhance your adult play time.

Try this for a new twist

Penis Extenders:

Penis extenders are extraordinarily popular sex toys.  Guys in “the know” realize that a penis extender has nothing to do with “bulking up their penis.”  To the contrary, a penis extender is best utilized to bring awesome sensation and stimulation to their partner.  Sure, a penis extender can add length.  But remember that some are designed to add girth and texture as well.

The point is, the penis extender is all about pleasing your partner, not trying to bulk up your package.  You can use it to get extra pressure on your partner’s G Spot, use one to add a wildly different texture to your penis, or just use one to turn your body into a sex toy!  The penis extender isn’t designed to “cover up” for inadequacy.  It’s designed to turn your penis into a playground for you and your partner!

Now, those who have read the blog before know that we ALWAYS remind you that if you are experiencing erectile dysfunction, we strongly advise you to see a doctor, since this can be a symptom of a larger medical problem.  And as we mentioned before, if you worry constantly about penis size, see a licensed professional to address your feelings.  It will be better for you in the long run.

But if you want a downright awesome time with your adult play and want to make your penis the center of attention (which doesn’t sound like a bad deal), use a penis pump or penis extender to change things up from time to time.  But make sure you discuss it with your partner!  Size does matter if you break out an extender that is way too large.

Have fun, and we hope this helps to clear up questions you may have had.  If you have specific questions about a product, always remember to Ask an Expert for more assistance.
